Jordann Christie

Director | Principal Mentor | Podcast Host

BMus (Ncle Con), Dip.Couns

With a professional coaching tenure spanning 17 years, Jordann Christie is a distinguished specialist in contemporary vocal pedagogy and performer wellness. As the founder of InnerVoice, Jordann has established a collective that is as much about clinical vocal health as it is about elite artistic output and the professional development of the next generation of educators.

A Legacy of Music Education

Music is deeply woven into Jordann’s heritage. She is the fourth-generation descendant of Colin Christie, a former Mayor of Newcastle who founded and operated one of the city’s earliest music schools. In 2024, marking her 15th year of coaching, Jordann founded the Colin Christie Award of Excellence to honour this lineage and support emerging vocalists.

Proven Pedagogical & Vocational Success

Jordann is widely recognised for guiding students through the highest levels of the Australian and International curriculum, with many of her alumni successfully transitioning into professional careers. Her studio is a hub for high-achieving artists, with results including:

  • Academic & Professional Pathways:

Students successfully entering NIDA, university conservatoriums, and music therapy degrees, as well as alumni established as professional performers and private tutors.

  • Elite Casting & Awards:

Mentoring featured vocalists for the NSW Schools Spectacular, Star Struck, and ASPIRE, alongside multiple CONDA Award-winning students in lead musical theatre roles.

  • Curriculum Excellence:

Consistent HSC Music Band 6 (90%+) results and students achieving Distinction/High Distinction in RSL Contemporary Vocal Examinations.

Mentorship & The "Coach’s Coach"

Recognised as a mentor to the industry, Jordann has mentored over 15 vocal coaches, helping them refine their pedagogical approach and business sustainability. Her focus on "teaching the teacher" ensures that her evidence-based methodologies reach a wider community of singers, elevating the standard of vocal education across the region.

Holistic & Clinical Expertise

In 2026, Jordann remains one of the few coaches in the country to integrate Clinical Counselling (Dip.Couns, 2024) with high-level vocal science. This holistic approach focuses on performance anxiety management and the "mind-body" connection, ensuring that every singer builds a voice that is technically resilient and emotionally authentic.

Artistry & Community Leadership

Jordann’s own artistry remains at the heart of her work. In 2025, she was invited to perform for the Newcastle Conservatorium’s 60th Anniversary, a testament to her standing within the academic community. She currently collaborates on the indie-original project Charlie Scott and hosts The InnerVoice Podcast, a premier resource for vocalists and arts leaders exploring the intersection of technique, wellness, and business.

Patrick Truscott

Co-Director | Head of InnerVoice+ | Multi-Instrumentalist

BMus (AIM), Dip.Couns, Cert III Ent. Ind.

As Co-Director of InnerVoice and the lead architect of the InnerVoice+ department, Patrick Truscott brings a high-level, multi-disciplinary approach to contemporary music education. A specialist in guitar, songwriting, and music production, Patrick’s career is defined by a rare blend of virtuosic performance, technical industry leadership, and clinical insight.

Artistic Pedagogy & Leadership

Patrick’s journey into music education began with a focus on high-level technical mastery, earning a Band 6 in Music 2 (HSC) before pursuing advanced studies at the Australian Institute of Music (AIM) in Sydney. His early career was characterised by the rigors of the international circuit, touring extensively in numerous ensembles. This global perspective now informs his teaching, providing his students with a sophisticated "real-world" roadmap to the professional music industry.

The InnerVoice+ Expansion & Performance Culture

Since joining InnerVoice as Co-Director in 2019, Patrick has spearheaded the expansion of the studio’s instrumental and technical offerings. As the Musical Director for the annual InnerVoice Showcase, he oversees the high-level production and arrangements that define the studio's premier event. Under his leadership, the InnerVoice+ department has become a launchpad for young artists:

  • Youth Band Mentorship: Patrick mentors many of Newcastle’s most successful youth bands, guiding them through rehearsal etiquette, stagecraft, and group dynamics.
  • Professional Opportunities: Leveraging his deep industry connections, Patrick actively sources and books paid professional gigs for advanced students, bridging the gap between training and a professional career.
  • Performance Access: Patrick is the architect of our community performance initiatives, enabling InnerVoice to offer free performance opportunities every term, ensuring students build "stage-stamina" in a supportive environment.

Production & The "Pre-Production" Studio

Beyond performance, Patrick operates a boutique pre-production studio within the InnerVoice suite. Here, he works closely with students and local original artists to develop their sound before they hit the major recording studios. His work involves:

  • Student Recordings: Transforming classroom compositions into polished demos.
  • Local Artist Development: Providing a high-end space for Newcastle’s original talent to track, arrange, and refine their music.
  • Industry-Standard Technology: Utilising his technical depth to teach students the nuances of modern digital recording and sound design.

Charlie Scott: Success in the Digital Age

An active and highly successful artist, Patrick records and produces original music under the moniker Charlie Scott. His work has achieved significant global reach, amassing over one million streams online. This success serves as a living case study for his students, proving that technical excellence combined with strategic digital literacy leads to a sustainable creative career in 2026.
